YOUNG VOICES TRIP
Thursday 12th January 2023
This message is for children attending the Young Voices concert this week.
Our school will perform on the evening of Thursday 12th January at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.
Children will attend school as usual in the morning before leaving at 11:30am to arrive in Birmingham for 1:00pm. As it will be a long day for the children, please supply a substantial packed lunch and packed tea for your child that can be eaten at the arena.
All choir members on this trip need to wear school uniform – black trousers, white polo t-shirt and red school jumper. If they have ordered a Young Voices Tshirt then they need to wear this instead of their white polo t-shirt.
If your child suffers with travel sickness please do send them with travel bands, but please make teachers aware of this.
They will rehearse through the afternoon before breaking for a packed tea at some point from 5pm onwards.
The concert will then start at 7pm and end at 9pm. Children return on the school coach to Calton. We cannot release children to parents at the end of the concert due to the high number of children and families in the arena. The organisers have asked schools to ensure that children return on school coaches.
We anticipate that we will arrive back to school at around 11:00pm at the latest. However, this is dependent on the concert finishing on time and also relies on how quickly schools are able to leave the car park at the end of the evening. We will keep you updated through text throughout the evening.
Last year we had reports of parents being delayed in leaving the event at the end of the concert due to the weight of traffic leaving the arena. Please do consider either pre-paying for your parking or park in the car park which can be an easier car park to exit from.
If your child is tired and it fits with your schedule, on Friday morning we will make an allowance of up to 10:30am for your child to come into school before anyone is marked as late. Please come in through the front entrance.
T-shirts will be distributed on Wednesday 11th January.
Please do contact the school if you have any questions about the trip.
Staff attending the trip: Mr Coughlin, Miss Thomas, Miss Stanley, Mrs Norris, Mrs Orchard, Mrs Bashford, Mrs Smithson, Mr Sonmezer, Miss Clark and Mrs Adlam.
